A transformation study of a completed SGC Build-Out for Garrett Popcorn Shop in the Chicagoland area.

Garrett Popcorn Shops

Garrett Popcorn is a renowned Chicago institution with long lines often forming outside a small retail space that offers specialty popcorn. SGC converted a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant site – vacant for more than 10 years – into a new Garrett Popcorn Shop in Chicago. The client outlined a grueling 12-week timeline to transform this 1700 square foot building and SGC was up to the challenge.

SGC executed an interior and exterior demolition, clearing the site for new steel structuring, roofing, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, water service and electrical systems installations. The Garrett Popcorn Building required a great deal of custom work including painting, light fixtures, millwork, trim carpentry and ceramic tile flooring.

SGC fabricated and installed a new fence along the perimeter in addition to a new parking lot with new concrete curbs, sidewalks, and handicap ramps. In an effort to honor the character of the neighborhood, an exterior wall featured a graffiti mural as a decorative element. SGC is particularly proud of this project and the exceptional results as shown below.
