A transformation study of an Existing Office Building into a State-of-the-Art Health Care Center for Children, Adolescents and Families.

Scott Scott General Contracting recently completed and transformed a 2 story 38,000 sq. ft. office building into the new MiraCare Health Care Facility located in the Village of Tinley Park.

MiraCare is a state-of-the-art Behavioral Health Care Center for Children and Adolescents with developmental and intellectual disabilities serving the Illinois and Chicagoland communities.

SGC had to comply with all IDPH (Illinois Department of Health) requirements as well as a Joint Commission and the Village of Tinley Park as communication was imperative to deliver everything to code. The nearly 38,000 square foot space building includes duplicated critical life and safety systems to meet Behavioral Health Hospital standards all supported by multiple backup systems. The main power supply is backed up by a building generator. The hot water supply is backed up by two water tanks that could facilitate the entire Hospital in an emergency.

This project required a total upgrade of the HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems from the current buildings existing conditions to meet all IDPH Requirements.  Additionally, a complete Type 1 Grease Hood System was installed for cooking in the kitchen areas along with and entire commercial kitchen.

Miracare required expert organizational skills to combat the supply chain issues of 2022.  SGC worked tirelessly to keep pace with the construction schedule while tracking down alternative options when obstacles arose. Project management and value engineering were integral parts of this project.

The transformation from the existing office center the new MiraCare Health Center was approximately 11 months.
